Feeding your Jumping Spider
Feeding is typically 2-3 days a week
Base your feeding on its abdomen size. You don’t want your spider to be overfed, because if it falls, it could rupture its abdomen.
Jumpers are hunters; they go after live prey. They can eat anything that is close to their size, even a bit bigger.
Bugs Jumping Spiders will eat:
Mealworms (mini or small)
do not leave unsupervised with your spider in the enclosure, these can bite/harm your spider
Dubia roaches
Pinhead Crickets
do not leave unsupervised with your spider in the enclosure, these can bite/harm your spider
Blue and green bottle flies
Flightless Fruit flies (for slings)
Up til i4 - melanogaster size
i4-i7 - hydei
Do not leave any bugs that can bite and harm your spider, such as mealworms or crickets. All others can be left in there until eaten.
Watering / Misting
Use a fine misting spray bottle to mist the side of your enclosure once a day. Make sure to not spray directly on your spider or on their hammock.
Jumping spiders do not need water dishes to drink out of. They have book lungs underneath them, so a dish of water or large water droplets may be something they could drown in.
As far as types of water, there has been no preferred type. You can use tap, filtered or distilled. I personally prefer filtered from our tap water
